WAYNE N. THOMPSON SCHOLAR GRADUATE STUDENT AWARD

This scholarship is granted annually to an exceptional graduate student, courtesy of a bequest from the estate of Dr. Wayne N. Thompson. A distinguished alumnus of WIU, Class of 1936, Dr. Thompson furthered his education by earning a Ph.D. and becoming a renowned professor in the field of speech communication. His extensive research contributions have earned him a place among the top 20 scholars of the century in his discipline. The scholarship carries a monetary award of $500.

Top student paper: csca convention (Communication & technology interest group)

"My paper, 'Exploring the Impact of Social Media Use on Attitudes towards Advertising, Ad Engagement, and Perceived Annoyance,' has been selected as the top graduate student paper by the Communication and Technology Interest Group at the Central States Communication Convention. I will be presenting this work at the CSCA 2024 Annual Conference, which focuses on the theme 'Incoherence'."

gRADUATE STUDENT TRAVEL GRANT FOR SCHOLARLY WORK REPRESENTATION

This grant is designed to support graduate students in presenting their scholarly work at conferences. I have been honored with a $500 travel grant to present my research at the upcoming 109th Annual Convention of the National Communication Association, themed "Freedom," which will take place from November 16-19, 2023, in National Harbor, Maryland. The department highly values student contributions to scholarly work, and I am grateful for this financial support to share my research on a prestigious platform.

Graduate Assistantship

Western Illinois University honored me with the Graduate Assistantship, acknowledging my potential and dedication as a graduate student. This award, amounting to $15,000 in total, provided both financial support and an opportunity to engage deeply with my academic pursuits.

International Commitment Scholarship

In recognition of my exemplary undergraduate GPA, Western Illinois University awarded me the International Commitment Scholarship. This $4,000 award underscores the university's appreciation for my academic commitment and achievements during my undergraduate studies.

I have been awarded a $200 travel grant from the National Communication Association to attend their upcoming conference. In addition to presenting my scholarly work, I will also be serving as a student volunteer at the conference. This dual role not only provides me with financial support but also offers a unique opportunity to engage closely with professionals and scholars in the field of communication. I am deeply honored by this recognition and look forward to contributing to the success of the event.

Secondary School Certificate Scholarship

This scholarship was conferred upon me by the Bangladesh government in recognition of my outstanding performance in the Secondary School Certificate Examination. It stands as a testament to my academic excellence during my secondary education, with a monetary award of $500.

Higher Secondary School Certificate Scholarship

The Bangladesh Government Education Board recognized my exceptional performance in the Higher Secondary Exam by awarding me this scholarship. It signifies my continued academic excellence during my higher secondary education, with a monetary award of $1,000.

Social Science Research Council Scholarship

I was honored with a scholarship by the Social Science Research Council, under the Planning Division of the Ministry of Planning, Bangladesh. This scholarship, amounting to $1,000, was granted to support my training in research techniques within the realm of Social Science, emphasizing my dedication to advancing research in this field.
