I am proud to highlight my active participation in the 2023 WIU Graduate Research Conference, an esteemed event that showcases the innovative research and scholarly pursuits of graduate students at Western Illinois University.
As a student volunteer, I had the privilege of contributing to the seamless organization and execution of the conference. My role allowed me to engage with fellow researchers, faculty members, and attendees, ensuring that the event was both informative and inspiring for all participants.
In addition to my volunteer duties, I also had the honor of presenting two research papers at the conference. These papers, a culmination of rigorous research and dedication, were an opportunity for me to share my findings and insights with a broader academic audience. The feedback and discussions that ensued were invaluable, providing me with fresh perspectives and ideas to further my research endeavors.
Being both a volunteer and a presenter at the WIU Graduate Research Conference was a rewarding experience. It not only allowed me to showcase my academic achievements but also to immerse myself in the rich tapestry of research being conducted by my peers, further fueling my passion for scholarly exploration.
Shadow Office
As part of my academic pursuits at Western Illinois University, I had the unique opportunity to undertake a week-long job shadowing at the WIU Foundation Office. This endeavor was aligned with a class project, wherein my primary objective was to observe and analyze the organizational communication system within the office.
Throughout the week, I was deeply immersed in the Foundation Office's operations, gaining firsthand insights into their communication strategies and practices. A significant aspect of my observation revolved around understanding how the office effectively communicates with alumni members and orchestrates fundraising initiatives. The experience was enlightening, shedding light on the intricacies of organizational communication in a real-world setting.
The entire experience was immensely rewarding, providing me with a blend of theoretical knowledge and practical application. I am grateful to the WIU Foundation Office for their openness to collaboration and for the invaluable insights I gained during my time with them.
Focus Group Session with Employees
As part of my academic journey at Western Illinois University, I had the distinct opportunity to collaborate with Farm King, a prominent retailer, for one of my course requirements. This collaboration was centered around understanding and assessing the organizational communication dynamics within Farm King.
To delve deep into the communication practices of the organization, we conducted several focus group sessions with Farm King employees. These sessions were instrumental in gathering firsthand insights into how communication flows within the organization, the channels utilized, and the effectiveness of the existing communication formats.
Working closely with such a renowned retailer was an enlightening experience. It underscored the importance of effective organizational communication in driving business success and provided a practical dimension to my academic pursuits. I am deeply grateful to Farm King for their collaboration and openness, and I cherish the learnings and experiences gained from this project.
In 2018, in response to the pressing needs of the Rohingya community, we embarked on a significant humanitarian project in Ukhiya, Chittagong, Bangladesh. Our mission was clear: to provide immediate shelter and sustenance to those displaced by the crisis.
With the generous funding from Orbit iTech Ltd and G10 Printing and Press, Birmingham, England, we successfully established a village designed to accommodate 20 families, which translates to approximately 100 individuals. This initiative saw the construction of 20 permanent tents, ensuring that each family had a safe and secure place to call home.
Beyond shelter, our efforts also encompassed providing essential food supplies, ensuring that the nutritional needs of the community were met. The entire project was organized under the diligent guidance of the Tourist Club SUST, whose dedication and commitment were instrumental in bringing this vision to fruition.
We would be remiss not to express our profound gratitude to the Bangladesh Army. Their unwavering support, both logistically and on the ground, was pivotal in ensuring the smooth execution of the project. Their involvement underscored the collaborative spirit of this endeavor, bringing together various entities for a common humanitarian cause.
The Rohingya Rehabilitation Project 2018 stands as a testament to what can be achieved when compassion meets action. We remain deeply committed to our ongoing efforts in supporting the Rohingya community and are immensely thankful to all our partners and supporters who made this initiative possible.
